Daily hike facts
Day 1 – Train from Glasgow to Milngavie and had an amazing late breakfast at Bullands Coffee House, then headed out on the very obvious trail towards Drymen.
The trail was extremely well mark and easy to follow, which was comforting since my phone’s GPS was acting up (not working mostly) for the first three days.
This section had a fair amount of tarmac walking which is my least favorite on the feet. But I had great weather, no bugs (a trend that lasted the entire trip) and was well caffeinated.
Walked 12.6 miles to Drymen
Stayed overnight at the Buchanan Arms Hotel
Dinner at a different pub (Clachan Inn) was well worth the few minutes walk.

Arriving from the rail station
At the start of the West Highland Way
Cool right-off-the-trail break ‘Beech Tree’
Day 2 – Drymen to Rowardennan
The hiking this day was much much nicer than the first day and more miles. The scenery was fabulous!
After 16 miles, I arrived at the Rowardennan Youth Hostel, beautifully located right on the loch.

Start to a great day!

Amazing view
